In my opinion, there is no better tool in a fisherman’s arsenal than a drop shot when it comes to bedding bass. No other lure allows you to put action on your bait without moving it horizontally as effectively as a drop shot. When hunting bedding fish, I tie a drop shot with a short 6” leader, and use the softest bait possible. For this technique, nothing can beat the action of the hand poured Zipper Pudgy. Next time you see a bass on a bed, tie on a short drop shot, tip it with a hand poured worm like the Pudgy, and have your partner grab the net. Just be sure to practice catch and immediate release to ensure there are still some fish for the rest of us to catch!
